Frequently asked questions

What types of tapes can Karson's Keepsakes transfer to digital?

Karson's Keepsakes can transfer VHS, VHS-C, MiniDV, Digital8, Hi8, 8 mm, CD, DVD, and Mini DVD

How long does the transfer process usually take?

Less than 5 tapes ~ 2 business days

Less than 10 tapes ~ 4 business days

20 - 30 tapes ~ 10 business days

What happens if my tape breaks?

If your tape breaks I will immediately contact you to see what you would like the next steps to be. Repairs start at $150 and go up from there depending on the extent of the repair. I can do shell replacements and tape splicing from a bad section of tape. If you would like me to return the tape as is, no repair, I can do that as well.

Is there a limit to how many tapes I can send at once?

There is no set limit, but contacting us for large orders ensures we can accommodate your needs efficiently.

How are my original tapes handled during the transfer process?

Your original tapes are carefully handled and returned to you in their original condition after the transfer is completed + a tiny checkmark for my completion process

How long do tapes last?

10-25 years depending on how they've been stored (They're like vampires, they like cool, dark, dry places)

Your prices are $15/tape?! That's crazy! Will you ever put them on sale?

I get it! $15 per tape is a big investment, especially if you have a lot of them. Most tapes have AT LEAST an hour of footage on them so that's me working for the bare minimum (and mostly less than) $15/hour. I do also edit the final version a bit before it's ready to be submitted to you so a lot of work goes into it for it to "just be $15"
